About ACT Branch

Purpose

This organisation is constituted as a Branch of Blind Citizens Australia (BCA).  BCA is a nation-wide organisation, which all legally blind Australian residents may join as a matter of right, to promote the common purpose of their total welfare through joint action and mutual support.  BCA's mission is to achieve equity and equality by our empowerment, by promoting positive community attitudes, and by striving for high quality and accessible services which meet our needs.

BCA's national unity is its strength and its active Branches are its life.

Year of Establishment

The ACT Branch was established in the year of 1983.  Until the year 2004, and since 1985, the Branch has been known as the National Federation of Blind Citizens of Australia ACT Branch Inc..  This Branch held this name as it was incorporated in its own right.  In 2004, it was de-incorporated.   

By Laws

The ACT Branch has adopted the BCA Regional Branch Model Bylaws.

Facts

·         BCA (ACT Branch) is currently run on a volunteer basis.  There are currently no paid employees that run this Branch.
