The Group was established in November 1987 as a Special Interest Branch of the NFBCA, now  Blind Citizens Australia.

 

Our Aims Are:

 

1.    To raise consciousness as to the potential of computing in employment, education and recreation.

2.    To assist members to make informed choices about computers and adaptive technology.

3.    To act as an information resource for technology developers and organisations serving blind people.

4.    To exchange news and hints on hardware, software and related services.

5.    To circulate recordings of meetings and other material on cassette tape, for corresponding Members.

Meetings:

 

Members meet monthly (on the 3rd Tuesday), 11 times a year. A recording is taken of the meeting for circulation to Corresponding Members i.e. those living in country Victoria, or interstate.

 

Most Meetings include a segment where a Speaker is invited to talk to the Group about new programs, new adaptive devices or software and matters of particular interest to Vision Impaired Computer Users, (including Braille Computers).
