Membership to BCA is available to people who are blind or vision impaired and supporters who are sighted. To be eligible for Full Membership or Junior Membership, you need to be in receipt of the Disability Support Pension - Blind or be able to demonstrate, with a statement from an eye health
professional (optometrist, ophthalmologist), that you are legally blind as defined by Australian social security law. Junior members are aged eighteen or younger.
If you are not legally blind, but are either vision-impaired or sighted, you are welcome to join BCA as an Associate Member*.

As a Member of BCA you will receive;
Blind Citizens News and our audio magazine Soundabout;
Representation to Government on issues affecting the lives of blind and vision impaired people.
All individual membership categories (Full, Junior and Associate) pay a once off membership fee of $10. Organisations are also welcome as members. Further information on organisational membership.
BCA ID Card: Full Members are entitled to apply for the BCA ID Card. The ID Card carries the member's photo, address and signature, and is worth 25 points when opening a bank account or entering into business transactions. The ID Card costs $20 and lasts for three years, where it can be renewed at the current rate. The ID Card application form is included in our member Application Pack.
*Associate Members are not eligible to stand for a position on the board and do not have voting rights in Branches or at any BCA elections.
