BRAILLE BILLS

Braille Bills can be provided for both Telstra mobiles and landline services. For Telstra mobile only customers, you do not have to be connected to a Telstra landline service to receive your mobile bill in braille.

TELSTRA DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE HELPLINE

Telstra has operated a Directory Assistance Helpline since 1988 to assist people with a disability to access directory information by providing telephone, facsimile and mobile phone numbers as well as address information.

The Helpline is specifically tailored to assist eligible Telstra customers who have a motor, intellectual or visual impairment that prevents them from holding, reading or otherwise using a printed telephone directory or satisfactorily utilising the standard Directory Assistance 1223/12455 service.

The Helpline provides national telephone numbers and address information which is listed in the White Pages® or Yellow Pages® directories. Up to two pieces of information can be provided per call. This can be two phone numbers, or two addresses, or one address and one phone number per call. The Helpline is free to Telstra fixed line and mobile phone customers who are registered users. Registered users are provided with a five-digit number that gives access to the service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Enquiries about eligibility for registration, and for an application form for the Directory Assistance Helpline can be made by contacting the Telstra Disability Enquiry Hotline on FREECALL™ 1800 068 424* (Voice) or e-mail on disability@online.telstra.com.au

Customers who are blind can receive information about the Directory Assistance Helpline in audiocassette format on request from the Hotline.

*A free call from most fixed phones.

CHANGES TO TELSTRA DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE

From December 4, 2006, Sensis will introduce a number of changes to its Voice Services. These changes will mean that Telstra Directory Assistance service on 12455 will no longer be offered. For a limited time, calls to 12455 will be automatically redirected to the new Call Connect service on 12456. However, please note, that Telstra’s Directory Assistance Helpline will not change. It will remain operational in its current form.

Also, BCA members and other Telstra customers can still call Telstra Directory Assistance on 1223 for free from their Telstra residential fixed service or from a public telephone. Calls from Telstra mobiles and Telstra business and government fixed services will be charged $0.50. Mobile charges also apply. Details on these changes, people can call 1800 811 210 or visit www.voiceservices.com.au
