Blind Citizens Australia (BCA): National Policy

Health Services

The major issues confronting people who are blind when accessing health care services are – access to information and access to premises and services. The BCA document below titled ‘Access to health services for people who are blind or vision impaired’, delivers important information on these matters for both health care professionals and people who are blind or vision impaired.

Every Child Matters Conference

The provision of comprehensive, accessible sex health education for people who are blind or vision impaired was a priority identified by members at the 2007 National Convention. As a direct result of this member input, BCA's National Policy Officer spoke about some of these issues at the 2008 Every Child Matters conference run by National Disability Services and Families Australia. Please see below for a link to the text of that speech.
