What is Young Blind Citizens Victoria?

Young blind citizens Victoria (YBCV) is a youth branch of Blind Citizens Australia that was started in 2000. Over the years the branch has taken many different directions to make a positive impact on the lives of young blind people in Victoria and beyond.

Beginning in 2007, the current committee members of YBCV envision that the branch will continue to assist blind youth by giving them the opportunity to network with peers, run programs that specifically target youth issues and work with other organisations to make sure that blind youth have a voice.

To learn more about the current driving force of YBCV, see the personal profiles of the committee members on the Committee page. To find out more about what YBCV is doing now, visit the Community page to browse our blog or to join the e-mail mailing list for YBCV.

How to get involved

If you wish to get involved or help the cause of Young blind people you may participate as a non-member or as a full member. As a non-member you are able to participate in our programs, join our mailing list and give us your ideas. If you wish to take on a leadership role within the organization then you need to be a member of BCA and then YBCV. Becoming a member gives you the right to nominate for the the committee and vote in any elections. YBCV cannot exist without the core committee and so we would encourage people to become full members and have an active role in the organization.

Membership of Young Blind Citizens Victoria is free for all Blind Citizens Australia members living in Victoria. To join the branch or get more information please E-mail Us. Visit the Community page to join the e-mail mailing list for YBCV.
