Launch of BCA’s Tasmania Branch

Are you a person who is blind or who has low vision? Do you know or care for such a person?
Please come and celebrate the launch of the new Tasmanian branch of Blind Citizens Australia!

When: Saturday 19th May from 11AM until 1PM
Where: Launceston LINC (Public Library), Level 2 – Meeting Room 1.

How to get to the LINC

• Use the lane off Paterson Street (recommended) or
• Follow the temporary walkway from St John Street (there is construction work on the right)
Enter at the Ground Floor and then up 2 floors via stairs on the right or the lift on the left.

At the Launch

We will celebrate the new Tasmanian Branch of Blind Citizens Australia with the help of National President, John Simpson, and Chief Executive Officer, Emma Bennison.
We will invite you to tell us what the Branch should do. We want to know about issues important to you as a blind or vision impaired Tasmanian.

We will start the election of the first Committee to manage the Branch if there are more candidates than positions. If not, we will declare the members of the Committee.

You must be a member of Blind Citizens Australia before you can vote. Read on to find out how to join. You can join at the launch if you have not already done so. Once you join BCA, you automatically become a member of the Tasmanian branch.

If you are coming to the launch please respond to Jan Miller (details below). If you want to nominate for a position on the Branch Committee, Jan can tell you about the positions and how to nominate.

Joining the BCA Tasmania Branch Committee

We are seeking nominations for the BCA Tasmania Branch Committee. If you are interested, please contact Jan Miller (details below). You can nominate for the Committee even if you cannot attend the launch. We want members from all over Tasmania to get involved. Meetings will be held by phone and computer.

Please send a statement of approximately 100 words with your nomination form to tell BCA members why they should vote for you. You may present this at the launch. It will be read for you if you prefer, or if you cannot be at the launch.

Nominees must be full BCA Members and your nomination must be supported by a second full BCA member. If you don’t have a second member to support you, please contact Jan for help. The Committee will have a President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary and up to 3 ordinary committee members.

Joining BCA and BCA Tasmania Branch

If you are a full, associate or junior member of Blind Citizens Australia, all you need to do is tell us you would like to join the Tasmanian Branch.
