Spring into Action

In 2018 our NSW / ACT State Division hosted its first ‘Spring into Action’ month, where BCA branches were invited to host an event during October for local members of the blind and vision impaired community. 

In 2019, we’re doing it again! Below is a list of activities being hosted by branches.

ACT Branch

Details: Members and Friends of the ACT BCA branch are invited to a Forum to discuss challenges with transport, in particular the new Bus and light rail services.

Sydney Branch

Date: Saturday October 12th, 11:00am – 2:30pm
Venue: Charlotte room; Club Ashfield; 1-11 Charlotte Street Ashfield

Details: Members and Friends of the Sydney branch are invited to a transport Information/Discussion Forum and social gathering.

Tweed Valley Branch

Date: Saturday October 19th
Venue: Tropical Fruit World

Details: Members and friends of the Tweed Valley branch will board a bus on the morning of Saturday October 19th for a scenic trip to Tropical Fruit World nestled in the glorious Tweed Valley Hinterland.

Upon arrival you will be taken via tractor train through plantation and experience hands on fruit picking followed by a guided tour. And, of course it wouldn’t be complete without some fruit tasting as well followed by lunch.

Newcastle/Hunter Branch

Date: Saturday October 19th
Venue: Historical Bank Hotel Dungog

Details: Members and friends of the Newcastle/Hunter BCA branch will board the Northern rivers XPT train on the morning of Saturday October 19th for a very comfortable and nostalgic trip to Dungog located in the Upper Hunter Valley.

Upon arrival around mid-morning at the historical town of Dungog there will be some time for a little sight-seeing in the main street enjoying its rich colonial history and even purchasing some of its locally grown produce as well. And of course time for a great morning coffee at one of the great little coffee shops.

Then it will be on to the Bank Hotel, one of the oldest hotels in NSW for a fabulous lunch with some newly found friends/potential members. And, perhaps a chance to share some locally produced wine.

Finally, back to the station for the trip back home and of course lots of yarns and the plans already underway for the next Spring into Action event.
