NDIA Sector Update – 19/09/25

Claiming timeframes now in effect

From 3 October 2025, all NDIS claims must be made within two years of the date a support was delivered. This applies to participants, providers, and authorised representatives. Any claim submitted after this period will now be automatically rejected. Learn more on the NDIS website.

Art and music therapy changes

Following an independent review led by Dr Stephen Duckett AM, the NDIA has confirmed that art and music therapies can be effective for some participants when delivered by qualified professionals. From November 2025, a new price limit of $156.16 dollars per hour applies to these therapies, ensuring fair and consistent pricing across the sector. Participants will still be able to use funding for art and music activities under core supports. A new Therapy Support Operational Guideline will also be available soon.

Keeping participant information safe

The NDIA is strengthening identity checks across its systems to protect participant information. Participants and nominees may now see pop-up prompts in the NDIS app or portals asking them to confirm or update details, or to link their account with myGov. These measures help prevent fraud and ensure only authorised users can access NDIS funds and information.

Provider access updates

Providers are transitioning from PRODA to the myID and Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM) systems for accessing NDIS provider portals. This change improves online security and helps protect participant data. New providers and employees can no longer register new PRODA accounts, and PRODA access will be fully removed later in 2025. A step-by-step guide to assist providers in making this transition is available on the NDIS website.

Have your say through NDIS Engage

The new NDIS Engage website is live. It is a space where people with disability, families, carers, and professionals can take part in consultations, share ideas, and learn about co-design projects. Visit NDIS Engage to explore current activities and see how your feedback is shaping the future of the Scheme.

Co-design and advisory updates

Recent meetings of the NDIS Co-design Advisory Group and the Independent Advisory Council (IAC) covered topics such as early intervention pathways, participant safeguarding, and priorities for the 2025–26 Work Plan.

NDIA Corporate Plan – 1/09/25

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) has released its Corporate Plan 2025–26, outlining the Agency’s purpose, key activities, and performance goals for the next four years.

This year’s plan reflects recent changes to NDIS legislation (effective 3 October 2024), including a new legislative function to help prevent fraud, misuse, and abuse of NDIS funds. It also introduces new key activities, updated performance measures, and revised targets to strengthen alignment across NDIA business areas and enhance integrity within the Scheme.

The plan reaffirms the NDIA’s commitment to the National Agreement on Closing the Gap, supporting greater empowerment and participation of First Nations people in the design and delivery of NDIS services.

You can find detailed information about the NDIA’s programs and key activities from page 10, and a summary of changes on page 45 of the plan.
