NDIA Sector Update – 27/06/25
First Summary Report on Legislative Reforms Now Available
The NDIA has released the first summary report evaluating the early implementation of NDIS legislative reforms (October to December 2024). Key findings include:
-
Participant uncertainty: Some participants experienced anxiety related to changes in NDIS supports, resulting in increased engagement through public information sessions and correspondence.
-
Staff training and support: While training delivered in June 2024 was largely effective, additional support is needed to ensure consistent application of changes across teams.
-
Replacement supports: By January 2025, there were over 600 requests for replacement supports, with updated guidance issued in response to provider feedback.
This report reflects the Agency’s commitment to transparency, continuous improvement, and ensuring participant experience remains central. The full report is available on the NDIS website.
For questions about the summary report, you can email the NDIS Strategic Evaluations team.
Funding Period Changes
Changes to how funding is structured have recently come into effect. Participants now receive funding in fixed periods within their plan. Key points to remember:
-
Funding can only be used during the current funding period.
-
Unused funds will roll over to the next funding period within the same plan but will not carry over into new plans.
-
Providers must deliver supports within the available funding and submit claims promptly.
-
Self-managed participants must spend in line with their plan and within each funding period.
-
Claims that exceed available funding will not be paid.
Annual Pricing Review and 2025–26 Pricing Updates
The 2025–26 NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits (PAPL) are now in effect, following the 2024–25 Annual Pricing Review and the release of the Independent Pricing Committee’s Final Report. These updates aim to ensure that the NDIS market continues to deliver sustainable, high-quality supports.
