BCA Inform – What the Election Results means for our Community

Join us for a timely discussion to unpack the results of the Federal Election and what they mean for BCA’s advocacy agenda. We’ll explore key policy areas, ministerial changes and new appointments, and the implications for the blindness sector.

Book Club

In this meeting, the group will discuss “Bits and Pieces: My Mother, My Brother, and Me” by Whoopi Goldberg, available from the Vision Australia library. This group is open to all readers, whether you’ve just embarked on your reading journey or have been immersed in books for many years you are welcome to come along. You will have the chance to discuss books, exchange ideas, and broaden your horizons through the magic of storytelling.

Supporting Inclusive Employment for People Who are Blind or Vision Impaired

Join us for an engaging and practical webinar designed to support businesses, employers, HR professionals and executive leaders to build more inclusive and accessible workplaces for people who are blind or vision impaired.

BCA Conversations – Getting to know Orthoptics 

Thursday, 5th June from 7:30pm to 8:30pm AEST.

Orthoptics Awareness Week kicks off with World Orthoptic Day on Monday, 2nd June 2025, recognising the global impact of orthoptists in improving vision outcomes.

As part of Orthoptics Awareness Week, join this session with Sue Silveira, an orthoptist at NextSense, who will provide a broad overview of the role of orthoptists and how they might be professionals you’d like to engage with.

We’ll explore the role of orthoptists in supporting people with low vision and blindness, particularly in assessment and support. The session will include real-life examples of individuals who have benefitted from working with an orthoptist, as well as a discussion of some of the current challenges the sector faces.
